8/26/13 National Dog Day

Welcome, welcome, everyone and especially dog lovers .  I am a dog lover.  I have had many dogs in my life, since I married and while raising my kids.  My last precious little pet was a Lhasa Apso named Sushie. ( For some strange reason we named all our animals after foods.) She was my precious baby for about 14 years before she was hit by a car.  I was devastated...... it took me a while to get over her lose.  My husband bought her for me when I was going thru the "Empty Nest Syndrome."  Can you ladies relate?  My 2 sons were grown and out of the house, so I replaced that feeling with love for a gorgeous little bundle of fur!  It really worked!  Here's a photo of her fully grown:

I am a member of a Design Team at Outlawzchallenges.ning.com.  I chose as my challenge theme for this week:  National Dog Day.
To celebrate that day the challenge was to make a card or project including an image of a dog in the project.  So far, over at http://outlawzchallenges.ning.com/group/birthdaycard/forum/topics/greeting-card-challenge-august-26-dog-theme-for-national-dog-day we are getting some cute response.  You dog loves out there should go over and submit an entry.  We'd love to see what yuh' got!

Here's my inspirational entry for this week.  I hope it inspires you!

Latice Card

Hello fellow crafters,

I was just playing around on the computer yesterday and decided to watch some you tube videos.
What did I do that for?  No, but really, I enjoyed it.  I made a card that I have never tried before.  Everybody has probably seen it but me!

It's called the Latice Card by Valita.  Here is the You tube video;  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTS5d4lIb_8.

I thought I did a pretty good job.  The 2 inner flowers were made by me. The 2 outer flowers are from Jolee's Boutique.  The larger leaves come from Spellbinders Layered Poinsettia dies.

Give me your opinion!  Thanks for stopping by!

Monochromatic card for Outlawz challenge

Afternoon everyone,  I am getting so lazy about posting on my Blog.  I need to get on the ball!  Right?  Some of my projects I make I'm not so pleased with, so I don't post them. I guess others feel that way too.  Well I made this card and I liked it at first but then my feelings changed.  Tell me what you think about.  Our challenge was to make a monochromatic card using one color in different tones.  Here's what I came up with:

We didn't have to include an image, just a sentiment.  I chose the tan-brown color tones.

Deborah Woods 1950-2013

I am saddened by the death of one of my younger sisters, Deborah, this weekend.  She made her transition on Sunday morning at 6a.m.  She died of Cancer.  We were so happy that she gave herself to the Lord before she died.

Thank you Lord for giving me the opportunity to let her know how much I loved her.

This disease took her so fast.  She was diagnosed in April of this year and died within 3 months.  Deborah was Ms. Personality.  She was the one with the vibrant bubbling personality that led to her having many long-time friends.  She was loved by many people and will surely be missed.   Our family (mother and 3 sisters) will never be the same.  There is an irreplaceable hole that is causing us a lot of grief.  But along with the grief is happiness knowing that she is presently with our Lord and Savior.
It's going to take a while for us to get over the pain of loosing our sister.  We are counting on the mercy of the Lord and the strength he will provide, to help us get through this trying experience.

I love you Deborah.  We will see you again one day!
Below is a video made by her nephew, Kael Beverly.  It is awesome.  It captures Deborah's personality and what she was all about.  Also included is a Gospel message that gives all an invitation to ask for Jesus, our Lord and Savior, to come into our life.
