Christmas is here!!!!!

Hello everyone,

Have you finished all your Christmas shopping and card making?  I have, and I am so relieved.  I've actually made over 35 Christmas cards in all for this year and I can proudly say they have all been mailed out.

I also found time to decorate 25 Mini Notebooks to give to my Senior Sunday School Class at my Church.  I found it pretty rewarding because I used up a lot of  scrap papers and left over embellishments.  I got on a roll and couldn't stop.  I think I'll do this again for next year if I get a good reception.
Here they are:

Merry Christmas everyone and a Happy New Year!

That's Entertainment

Hi ladies and gents,

Why don't you stop  over at Outlawzchallenges and join in with this weeks challenge.    The theme is "That's Entertainment."  We're making cards based on our favorite Movie, TV program or Book.  I can't wait to see what everyone is going to come up with.

.  I'm a lover of Adventure, Futuristic, and Action Movies.  I chose "Blade Runner" as my all-time favorite movie.  It was made back in the 80's I think, but I still like to see it over and over.
Below is my inspirational DT card to get the creative juices going.

Create Your Own Challenge

Hello my Friendly crafters,

I hope everyone is getting ready for a wonderful Thanksgiving Day with family and friends.  The Lord is truly good.  My Grandson Aaron (13) and I plan to participate in the Turkey Day Chicago Run 2013.  I no longer run but I can still walk! LOL  It's only 5K(3 miles).  It starts early in the morning so I will have time to rest afterwards and then head on over to my Son's girlfriends house and enjoy a meal with our combined families.

I will have a good reason to eat what ever I want that day and not feel guilty!   It's also for a good cause.  We will be supplying the Greater Chicago Food Depository by bringing 2 can good items with us when we run.  I'm really looking forward to this.

Our challenge this week at 613 Avenue Create was to Create Your Own challenge by using this pattern :

This is what I came up with:

8/26/13 National Dog Day

Welcome, welcome, everyone and especially dog lovers .  I am a dog lover.  I have had many dogs in my life, since I married and while raising my kids.  My last precious little pet was a Lhasa Apso named Sushie. ( For some strange reason we named all our animals after foods.) She was my precious baby for about 14 years before she was hit by a car.  I was devastated...... it took me a while to get over her lose.  My husband bought her for me when I was going thru the "Empty Nest Syndrome."  Can you ladies relate?  My 2 sons were grown and out of the house, so I replaced that feeling with love for a gorgeous little bundle of fur!  It really worked!  Here's a photo of her fully grown:

I am a member of a Design Team at Outlawzchallenges.ning.com.  I chose as my challenge theme for this week:  National Dog Day.
To celebrate that day the challenge was to make a card or project including an image of a dog in the project.  So far, over at http://outlawzchallenges.ning.com/group/birthdaycard/forum/topics/greeting-card-challenge-august-26-dog-theme-for-national-dog-day we are getting some cute response.  You dog loves out there should go over and submit an entry.  We'd love to see what yuh' got!

Here's my inspirational entry for this week.  I hope it inspires you!

Latice Card

Hello fellow crafters,

I was just playing around on the computer yesterday and decided to watch some you tube videos.
What did I do that for?  No, but really, I enjoyed it.  I made a card that I have never tried before.  Everybody has probably seen it but me!

It's called the Latice Card by Valita.  Here is the You tube video;  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTS5d4lIb_8.

I thought I did a pretty good job.  The 2 inner flowers were made by me. The 2 outer flowers are from Jolee's Boutique.  The larger leaves come from Spellbinders Layered Poinsettia dies.

Give me your opinion!  Thanks for stopping by!

Monochromatic card for Outlawz challenge

Afternoon everyone,  I am getting so lazy about posting on my Blog.  I need to get on the ball!  Right?  Some of my projects I make I'm not so pleased with, so I don't post them. I guess others feel that way too.  Well I made this card and I liked it at first but then my feelings changed.  Tell me what you think about.  Our challenge was to make a monochromatic card using one color in different tones.  Here's what I came up with:

We didn't have to include an image, just a sentiment.  I chose the tan-brown color tones.

Deborah Woods 1950-2013

I am saddened by the death of one of my younger sisters, Deborah, this weekend.  She made her transition on Sunday morning at 6a.m.  She died of Cancer.  We were so happy that she gave herself to the Lord before she died.

Thank you Lord for giving me the opportunity to let her know how much I loved her.

This disease took her so fast.  She was diagnosed in April of this year and died within 3 months.  Deborah was Ms. Personality.  She was the one with the vibrant bubbling personality that led to her having many long-time friends.  She was loved by many people and will surely be missed.   Our family (mother and 3 sisters) will never be the same.  There is an irreplaceable hole that is causing us a lot of grief.  But along with the grief is happiness knowing that she is presently with our Lord and Savior.
It's going to take a while for us to get over the pain of loosing our sister.  We are counting on the mercy of the Lord and the strength he will provide, to help us get through this trying experience.

I love you Deborah.  We will see you again one day!
Below is a video made by her nephew, Kael Beverly.  It is awesome.  It captures Deborah's personality and what she was all about.  Also included is a Gospel message that gives all an invitation to ask for Jesus, our Lord and Savior, to come into our life.

Happy 13th Birthday Aaron

Hello everyone,

Yesterday we celebrated our grandson, Aaron's 13th Birthday.  Boy, the years have really gone by.  I can remember the first time I saw him, it was LOVE at 1st site!  I did not want him out of my site.  Eventually we had the opportunity to get Guardianship of him . We've had our ups and downs but I have not regretted it.

He's had a birthday celebration every year of his life (we didn't when we were growing up).  So this will be the final big BD celebrations until he's 16.  We decided to rent out a Gym Room in the local Park District, for 3 hours.  I made invitations (tutorial to follow) and he passed them out to all his basketball friends.  Well they had a ball!  I mean we had to stop them from playing in order to eat and then they went right back to playing.  It tired me out by just looking at them.

I think this party was a success and he'll have fond memories.

Here are some pictures from the party and a tutorial on the BD invitations:

I used very thick black card stock and 12x12 Basketball card stock paper

I cut these shapes on my Cricut Expression using the Sports Mania cartridge.

I used Microsoft to print the party invitation info, then used Spellbinders circle Die to cut them into circles

Here is everything ready to be assembled,

The inside of the invitations

I used Recollections chipboard stickers to embellish the invitations

I made a total of 16

Aren't they adorable?

I used my We R Memory keepers Envelope maker to make the envelopes.  If you don't have one ......you'd better get one!  LUV IT!

Here is the Banner that I made

                                                               Aaron and his players

Gift candy bags for the boys

A few of the boys stopping a few minutes to eat.  Aaron is the one standing.

Since he is a Miami Heats fan, we had cupcakes made with their colors and logo.

Here are some of them lined up for the "3 Point Shoot Out"

Birthday Boy -AARON-

Back at home after the party.  Nobody wanted to go home.  We had 4 to sleepover.

Porch Banner

So this is how we are celebrating our Memorial Day weekend.  Hope you have an enjoyable weekend.  Thanks for lookin' in!

PURPLELISHIOUS theme for Outlawz challenge

Morning wonderful people,

I slept really good last night thru the rainy storm.  Felt even better when I noticed no water leakage in the basement.  We've got a old house and we're constantly patching areas in the basement to prevent seepage of water when it rains heavily.  My husband and our finances believe it's best to, do it yourself,  if you can.  Our prayers go out to the families in Oklahoma that lost family members and their homes.  We are so blessed and don't even realized it.

The Outlawz challenge for the Monday Greeting cards challenge group is to make a card with purple colors and tones. I chose to use Bugaboo's digi image: Stella Nursing-It Won't Hurt Much.

Here are 2 views of my card.  I like both, but prefer the one with the black background.  I need a course in Photography  and a new Camera. LOL

Material used:

Bazzill card stock
Spellbinders Floral Ovals and Pennants
K & Company Dimensional Stickers
Copic markers
Webster Pages Bloomers
Cuttlebug Embossing folder

Thanks for stopping by and sharing some of your time with me!
